LEON GEORGE LARSON

Leon George Larson, Date Unknown (Source: Osborne)

L.G. Larson is signed twice in the Peterson Field Register. Each time he flew the Beech Staggerwing NC499H. This interesting airplane was the prototype of the Staggerwing line, a model 17R, S/N 17R-1. He brought NC499H to Colorado Springs the first time between July 31 and August 6, 1933. He didn't enter an exact date in the Register. He arrived from Wichita, KS and did not cite a departure date or destination.

His second visit was a month later on Sunday, September 3, 1933 at 11:00AM. Again he arrived from Wichita. This time he stayed for a week. The Register cites him departing on Friday, September 8, 1933 at 12:55PM, westbound to Wichita. This looks like a week of business for Larson on behalf of the Beech company for which he worked at the time. However, he cited no reason for either of his visits. Both times the airplane was identified as being owned by Beech. This prototype aircraft was manufactured November 4, 1932, so it was barely a year old when Larson brought it to Colorado Springs.

Larson is also in the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register at the link. He landed there on Monday, August 12, 1929. He was solo flying Travel Air NC676H, a model E-4000, c/n 1233. He also appears in the Parks Airport Register twice.

Larson was born on March 16, 1902 in Cambridge MN. He passed away February 10, 1980. His complete biography is at the Davis-Monthan link.
